John Goodman turns in one of his best performances of his career. The film opens with Michelle (played by Mary Elizabeth Winstead) in a car crash. When she awakes she is in an underground bunker with Howard (John Goodman) and Emmet (John Gallager jr). Howard ties to explain to her that he took her into the shelter to save her life from the outside world that is now under attack. The movie is very manipulative……and that is what makes so much it fun. You never know if John Goodman is telling the truth or if he is just a crazy man who likes to kidnap young ladies. Much like Panic Room the movie supplies well thought out plans by the characters as Michelle tires to figure out the truth and ultimately tries escape. The last chapter of the film is going to divide fans…..some will be turned off, while others will eat it up with a spoon……..in my case, get me a spoon – I LOVED 10 CLOVERFIELD LANE.
3.5 Jaws out of 4!
