“Greed, for lack of a better word, is good” so says Gordon Gekko. By the end of Wallstreet he is proven quite wrong, isn’t he. Especially in this crazy time we are living through compassion and generosity seem so much more important. Greed is the part of our systems that doesnt seem particularly helpful when everyone is in need. This week we review Netflix’s The Platform, a pretty on-the-nose examination of capitalistic greed in a sci-fi prison.
Joining us is a guest who is quite generous with his time. Troy Walsh is a filmmaker who specializes in aeriel photography with his expert skillset piloting drones. His company, Drone Media Chicago, was born from a combined love of aviation and creativity. Troy holds over 15 years of experience piloting remotely controlled aircraft and understands the precision, attention to detail, and safety that goes into creating a successful production. Recently Troy took to the streets of Chicago to cover the eerie empty cityscape in a short film Silent City that became a global hit and circulated the web as a visual symbol of life in shutdown. We included the short film below.
