Brian Cox gives a fantastic performance as Rory MacNeil and old Scotsman who makes his way over to the United States to visit his son’s family. He does this begrudgingly and that is where the story’s charm comes from. Upon arriving at his son’s house he is introduced to his grandson for the first time. A connection is made. Rory can see his family legacy in the young baby’s eyes. Unfortunately, a trip to a doctor does not give Rory the best news. While I found the screenplay to be a little bland and predictable I did enjoy the performance from Brian Cox. It was also nice to see Thora Birch on screen again as his daughter-in-law.
