I give thanks for movies!
The holiday movie season is upon us, and while there is a clear delineation as to what makes a Halloween or Christmas movie, one famous holiday has gotten basted when it comes to being stuffed with movies: Thanksgiving. Although Ry the Movie Guy claims Thanksgiving as his fave, for the rest of us it is merely the in-betweener. Sure we get to stuff our faces until we pass out, a day off work, wine and family and football but Thanksgiving can feel a bit lackluster in and of itself. So we at CinemaJaw decided to do our part to raise the stature of this B-list holiday by listing our Top 5 Thanksgiving Movies. To pull of this task will take some magic!
Enter Edd Fairman, Wizard of Sorts one of Chicago’s best professional Magicians! Edd helps our boys conjure up some good picks with extra gravy! No turkeys on these lists… Ok enough with the puns. Take a listen to our Thanksgiving Special and also hear the debut of our new listener feedback segment “the Jaws of Life”! All that plus our usual segments, trivia and so much more, listen hard! You’re a good man Charlie Brown.

We are always working on new and improved ways to reach the JawHeads out there. Recently we’ve gotten into video. This is our first foray, but rest assured it’s a doozy right off the bat. We landed an interview with none other than Mr. Tony Moore, illustrator extraordinaire, and one of the creators of The Walking Dead!
We hope you enjoy this bonus video, and your feedback would be greatly appreciated!

Special thanks to the guys and gals at ReedPop!
To quote Keanu Reeves- “Woah!” That about sums up our experience at C2E2 this year, and we mean that in the very best way. CinemaJaw was fortunate enough to have a booth amongst the podcasters and we just had a blast getting some great coverage of the event. So many awesome people stopped by our booth that we are sure to have things to talk about for weeks. We did manage to capture some amazing interviews including: Southpaw Studios founders and Western genre experts Michael Gallinari and Lee Cutrone, Michael Morrisy Director of new indie superhero flick Boy Wonder, Jay Simon Tony Moy founders of Comics Pipeline, Marcus Perry Writer/Director of Action Film Razor Sharp, and last but not even close to least Tony Moore a creator of The Walking Dead. Yes… THAT Walking Dead

Get out those pick sheets!
It’s time once again for the CinemaJaw Oscar Special! Our traditional guest returns for her third appearance on the Jaw putting her in an eletie group of movie buffs. You may know her for her years of service at the City of Chicago Film Office, where she pretty much ran everything. These days she is busy pretty much running everything over at the Chicago chapter of SAG (the Screen Actors Guild). She also recently joined Twitter (so everyone should follow her @kathyb357). Of course i am talking about the remarkable guru of the Chicago film scene… Kathy Byrne.
So Kathy Matt K, and Ry the movie Guy pick the people they expect to win in the major categories as well as who they would like to see win. They also wax poetic on some Oscar facts, play trivia and hit all the usual segments. Its Jaw-tastic!

Subtitles or dub?
I know, I know…. We didnt think this would be a fun episode either, but boy were we wrong! Turns out some of our very favorite films are foreign language films. Perhaps this is because the ones that make it over the pond are the very cream of the crop, perhaps we just like reading subtitles. In either case Matt and Ry take on that topic in this stunningly awesome episode and pick their Top 5 Foreign Films. This is due in no small part to the advent of the Millennium series of films coming from Sweden both of which are covered by the guys this episode.
Our boys are joined by guest Lance Fensterman who is the head of ReedPop the pop-culture division of the massive trade show company Reed Exhibitions, and the man who brough C2E2 to Chicago (thanks Lance!).

A Long Time Ago, in a Podcast Far Far Away… Dahhh Dah – da da da DAHH DAHH. Da da da DAHHH DAHH. Dun Dun Dun DAAHHHH. Ok, enough of that. So we finally did it… Our first foray into the fascinating world of Star Wars. Make no mistake, we talk about other movies too, but the main thrust this episode is that proverbial galaxy far, far…well lets just say it ain’t close by. We decided to start our journey into one of cinemas most celebrated, and hotly debated, series of films by taking a look at what has made this saga part of our everyday lives and so permeated the lexicon: The Fans. And who better to guide us through this subculture than Documentary Filmmaker Chris Macht.
Macht’s film “The Force Among Us (http://www.theforceamongus.com)” is a veritable love letter to the fans, and also serves as an entertaining look behind the curtain of Star Wars fandom. It’s a good watch from any perspective and is certainly the best gift for the Star Wars fan that has it all. High marks from CinemaJaw. With Chris Macht as our guide we explore the surface of all 6 films and ask some questions, both serious and silly. You decide! We have only begun on the topic of Star Wars… we will return to it in future episodes for sure.
We also have all the usual goodies: Trivia, I for and I, movie headlines, and even a new segment where Matt and Ry trade movies from their respective collections. Whew…. Enjoy!
